"The picture of you is captured in my mind
exactly how you are. In a way, it is like an
old oil painting that has survived the ages.
I keep it carefully preserved. I look upon it
for hours at a time; yet, I try not to touch it,
scared that it might alter its form in any way.
I want to keep it pure in my head, untouched
by perfection, kept in the frame of reality.
When I see people now and then and someone
captures my interest, I try to compare it to
the painting and I wonder if they could be
the muse in that painting. However, I realize
that no one can replace you. It is not because
you are more beautiful or more perfect, for
beauty or perfection are irrelevant. It is just
that you are a piece of art of me, captured
bit by bit, inch by inch as you are,
your every mole, your every scar, and even
the freckles that lay on your shoulder.
And I doubt anyone can match you
mole by mole, scar by scar, freckle by freckle."
